Willing and ABLE

Dexter has NEVER come home from school so excited and happy as he did last week on Friday. He was so excited he didn't even eat his snack of 3 WHOLE OREOS.
Last Friday was his first day of ABLE LEARNERS, which is the exact opposite of how it sounds to me. When I was in it in CA, it was called GATE, here it's called ABLE LEARNERS. Anyway, he goes to school and then is bussed with the other "ABLE" children to another elementary school, all day, for some specialized education.

Their first assignment, which is why Dexter was SO excited, was to build an all fruit or vegetable car, and then race it the following Friday (yesterday).


All he wanted to do last week was build his car. He was grabbing bananas, looking for oranges and grapes, drawing pictures, writing lists... It was so cute.

So Thursday night (are we procrastinating, terrible, anti-fun parents or what?) George finally took D to the grocery store to attack the produce department.

Dexter was proud to announce yesterday after the races that he won both of his. The poor kid against whom he raced lost because his wheels kept coming off.
