little

I am not a baby person. I was a terrible babysitter. TERRIBLE. (just ask my aunt and uncle). I have gotten better over the last 15 years, grown up a tiny bit, and somewhat matured. But I still am not the one who will rush over to a new mother and offer to hold her baby for her. Not me.

I love to watch children and listen to them and see interactions and reactions. I love watching them fall down and get back up with more determination. I enjoy a good laugh at mispronunciations and am saddened when there is cruelty and hurt.

Anyways, too long. Point being: I am not a baby person.
However - last night, I was cuddly with Mercer. No real reason, he was just being cute and squishy and round. I was laying in bed with him and hugging him and tickling him and saying "I don't want you to get bigger. I want you to stay small." I said it 2 or so times and he got a little emotional and said, "but I love you, Mom."

"I love you too, Bud. Why are you sad?"
Big reassuring smile.
"I just want you to stay little. How can I keep you little?"

"Just push down on my head."

"If I push down on your head, that will keep you little?"
"Yea. Are you going to the store?"
"What?"
"Are you going to Costco?"
"What does that have to do with keeping you little?"
"Are you going to get some donuts from Costco to keep me little?"

Ah, Mercer wins. Now I want to get him some donuts.

To keep him little.

Seriously think I am going to cry. Both at the conversation and at those amazing photos.

I love that shot of him jumping. Only a pro could capture that. Seriously you are so amazing. I sent your email to all my friends, I hope they call you.

LOL He is such a doll. It is so sad how fast they grow! Can you believe that someday we'll actually miss this craziness?!?!?!
