This past weekend was Lake Clean-Up. MOST of us (there are 6 children and only 5 families were presesnt....hmmm) headed out to the lake to take care of some maintenance to get ready for the summer. With lots of office and ward parties and family reunions coming up, there is lots to be done to get the houses and property ready. Like clearing the beach of all the logs that wash up every summer.
Jarom gets out his chainsaw, ever so eagerly, cuts them down and they are hauled off to be used as firewood for people in various locations.
We also worked on the BBQs and lights, pine cones and a few weeds. Then it was on to the real task of the day... raking up ALL THE POO.
We had about 6 garbage cans full of this. (Looking for a place to dump it... Who wasn't there helping?)
Anyone who has been to the lake house knows how my mom feels about the geese. She pays the grandchildren dimes and quarters for each bird they chase away. She has finally gotten to the point where the men have been permitted to bring their BB guns and paint-ball guns out to the lake. Therefore:

So that is what happened to the geese that my parents used to have as pets. I am calling Alicia RIGHT NOW!
PETA's platforms are totally irrational - this coming from someone who will never have pets. I shot my neighbor's cat once with a BB gun to get it off our porch and my mom made me go apologize. At their house, when the wife wasn't listening the husband pulled me aside and said, "Next time, make sure you pump the gun a few more times...."
Nice....Tim's brother blames Mary Poppins for the bird loving attitude most have adopted from childhood; he stated this to us as we sat in Boston eating some wonderful clam chowder. Meanwhile we're being attacked by pigeons whom have taken up residence because people "feed the birds" :)
