for jill

can i just tell you about jill?
she showed up so excited. her kids showed up happy and clean and darling. she was so cute and fun and laid back.

but after about 40 minutes, she was crying. her littlest one was done, and jill was so sad. i have never had someone cry at one of my shoots before. i hope this doesn't embarrass her - but it was so sweet. here's why: she didn't get mad at her kids. she didn't get angry with her husband. she wasn't frustrated with her mother-in-law who drove all the way down to provo from farmington to help the kids smile - no, she went to the car and cried for a while. then she came back and gave her littlest one a big squeeze.

then i cried.

this is why i love what i do. thank you jill. your family was the perfect FAMILY. imperfect, unpredictable, and FULL of love. thanks for getting the kids out of school early, driving 45 to meet up with me and for loving your family.
