Double Duty
Today is George's birthday.
We celebrated by throwing Lilli a Hello Kitty party...
complete with kitty masks and snacks and cake (what kitty doesn't like cake? apparently there were a few that made it to our kitty party)
This was my first real birthday party I have ever thrown for any of the kids and apparently 1 hour and 40 minutes is all it takes. Our party was a touch too long, but that's okay. The girls had a good time in the end all coloring on Lilli's new princess posters. And everyone took home the favorite toy... a yellow non-helium balloon.
(I made Lilli's cake yesterday. She said to me, "I know why you're making my cake today, Mom." "Why?" "So that you won't be all frushster-rarated and tired and bored tomorrow." mmmm....I am one of those moms... :( )
George kinda got the shaft today. Sorry. I will make it up to him... next year. I was going to surprise him with his two best friends flying up for a guy frisbee-golf-a-rama weekend, but good thing they couldn't make it because it snowed all weekend. We woke up with about 4 inches, and our sunset looks like this....

Lilli's got it down! It took me a couple years of birthday parties to figure out that I needed to do 99% of the work the day before so I wouldn't be frustrated and tired during the actual party. She's got that figured out already? Nice! What other coping strategies can she teach me?

What an INCREDIBLE cake! You did that YOURSELF?? I did one of those Barbie doll cakes once for Madie (you know where you cut the legs off and make her skirt the cake). That was enough creativity for me...I'm sure George will forgive you. Tell him happy birthday.
